How You Can Reduce Your Reliance On Fossil Fuels

In a world full of plastic, we as consumers have to figure out new ways to reduce our plastic consumption.

 1: Wardrobe

When a plastic based clothing item gets worn out or stained, mend if possible. If mending the item is not an option look for natural fibers such as linen, cotton, or bamboo. Shop at stores like pact or yes friends.

2: Bedroom

We all love a scented candle, but did you know that most candles we buy are made of paraffin wax a byproduct of oil drilling and when burnt it releases those chemicals into the air. When buying candles always remember to buy natural waxes such as coconut, soy, and bayberry. Shop from brands like arbor made and companion candles.

3: Kitchen

You might think I’m going to tell you to swap out your cutting board, but no it goes deeper than that. To reduce your reliance in the kitchen let’s talk about food packaging. When we get our food in plastic the food just sitting in the container can release tons of microplastics into our food. Instead of getting your food in plastic try to look for a store that has a bulk section. If a bulk section is not accessible try to just get your food in cardboard, glass, and metal.

4: laundry

When we buy from big Corporations like P&G or Colgate-Palmolive we are buying products that may have petroleum-derived ingredients. Instead of buying from these brands try to look for brands like ECOS or Blueland.

When we shop plastic light and petroleum free we don’t just lower our microplastic intake we also tell the market to stop producing so much plastic. It also helps the environment and

all animals life including ours.
